These long weekend courses are aimed at those with no experience of upholstery,
or students wishing to extend their existing knowledge. You will learn traditional upholstery techniques (webbing, springing, stuffing, stitched
edges etc.) on a small project, or projects, of your choice. We can also cover the basics of modern upholstery
techniques for those who are interested. Finishing techniques will also be
studied including some or all of the following – stretching and fitting the top cover fabric, piping (single and
double), braiding, studding etc.
It is important, particularly for those with no experience, that you bring with
you at least one project that you can hope to complete in a weekend so that we
can cover all the techniques from start to finish. If you do not have a
suitable project we can provide you with a footstool frame, or small chair
frame. We charge extra for these frames which vary in cost.
All materials except the cover fabric
are kept in stock and will be charged for as you use them. You will need to
bring your own covering fabric with you and Angie is happy to advise on the
approximate quantity that you will require.
There are a maximum of 4 students on the course. It is possible to attend the
course for less than the full number of days if you are finishing off a project,
or can not manage one day, however priority is always given to those attending
the full course.
