We have long weekend courses, two or three day courses, 2.5 hour morning/evening classes and a regular once a month class for 5 hours.
Long Weekend Course
Long Weekend Course
- Classes run from 10am to 5.00pm -
- Numbers on each course are limited to 3 people.
- They last 4 days.
- Lunch is included
Long Weekend Course in upholstery, soft furnishings or loose covers
In upholstery, soft furnishings or loose covers. Bring your own project or projects. This is a mixed course for all skill levels.

Price - £550 for 4 days (£515 if you have been before) + materials
Dates 2026: 27 - 30 March, 31 July - 3 August, 20 - 23 November

2 and 3 Day Courses
2 or 3 short days (6 hours) in upholstery, soft furnishings (curtains, blinds, cushions etc) or loose covers. if you only wish to attend for 2 days you can select any two of the three days but they must be chosen at the time of booking. Bring any small project you like - cushions, simple roman blinds, small upholstery projects, very simple loose covers, small curtains etc. If you are unsure of the suitability of what you wish to make, please ring and we can discuss - this is preferable to a long winded email!
These 6 hour days - 10am to 4pm - run from Friday to Sunday, or Tuesday to Thursday. Refreshments are provided but you will need to bring your own lunch along with you. If you do not live locally we can recommend places in Matlock to stay.

There is a regular block of classes once a month during the winter months only. You can choose to attend either a Friday or Saturday or Sunday or Monday but must book all the dates on that chosen day. Dates from October to Christmas are as follow: -
3/4/5/6 October, 7/8/9/10/November, 12 13 14 15 December
Cost of £190 for all 3 days. 3 Students. 10am to 3pm.

There are currently 2.5 hour classes on a Wednesday morning and evening. You can bring any project in upholstery or soft furnishings as long as you can transport it to and from home at every session.
Price - £110 for 5 sessions in each half term (Ie. 10 classes to Christmas holidays)
On a Tuesday I now run classes of 5 hours duration, 10 - 3pm. there are 5 of these classes between September and Christmas.
Price: £237.50 for 5 classes

General Information
All materials except the main fabric are kept in stock and a charge is made at the end of each course for the materials each student uses. You are however welcome to bring all your own materials with you if you wish.
We have 4 sewing machines - two domestic machines, a small industrial suitable for soft furnishings and a heavy industrial walking foot machine, suitable for upholstery and bulky furnishing work. None the less students still sometimes prefer to bring their own machines with them so you are most welcome too - better the devil you know!
